Rugby Coaching

Unfortunately at the age of 25 I had to retire from professional rugby, due to a persistent injury. However, my passion for the game is one that has not allowed me to give up all commitments to the sport, and this is why I am offering one to one and small group coaching sessions in addition to my personal training services.

With a big focus on the basics required to play rugby union, the coaching I offer will look to challenge you to improve your current skill set. I strongly believe in attention to detail when it comes to coaching and the methods I use are reflective of this. Whether it is improving passing and catching, tackling and rucking, or simple running lines, I offer a coaching service that will push you to better yourself and potentially compete better with others. Furthermore I am a firm believer in an 80 minute performance and therefore offer assistance in conditioning to support this.

I have been fortunate enough to have been coached by a number of rugby union’s finest coaches. During my 9 year playing career I worked with the likes of Sir Ian McGeechan, Andy Robinson, Phil Larder and Richard Hill. The influence they had on me was massive and the coaching I received was of the highest standard. From this I was able to obtain a vast wealth of coaching knowledge that I am now able to pass on myself.

When I was at Bristol I coached a local level B.A.C. rugby club for a season. This helped me to realise that there was a whole level of rugby players striving to be better, they just didn’t have the resources that I was privileged to use as a professional. The passion I have for coaching is not a new thing, I have also done a lot of community coaching whilst at Bristol, Worcester and Yorkshire Carnegie, throughout the week the club would send players to local schools or on the weekends to the local rugby clubs and help out with coaching. I really enjoyed doing this and I look forward to working with you.

"Ollie coached our 1st and 2nd XV teams for one successful season. Having a professional player coaching our squad was great for the team dynamic and confidence. Despite Ollie being younger than our previous coach, his knowledge and approach was apparent straight away and players young and old enjoyed and benefitted from the sessions. Well organised and driven and pushed us hard to get the best out of the team. We were gutted when he relocated and would hire him again given the opportunity."

“I met Ollie when he joined the B.A.C RFC coaching Staff just before the 2013/14 season. We all felt straight away that he was someone who knew what he was talking about, his rapport with the players was great, and he has a clear vision of how rugby training and coaching should be done, which helped me a lot during pre season sessions.
During the brief time I was training separately from the rest of the team due to an injury he proposed a number of different ways for me to continue to progress and recover at the same time.
Once I was back into full training, all the players were saying how good the sessions have been, I could see everyone's skills and fitness were another level thanks to his ability to develop new fun drills and games.
I’ve had the chance to chat many times with Ollie during his time coaching B.A.C RFC and on a personal level he’s someone with a huge knowledge and vast experience on the field. Very passionate on what he does and very easy to work with.
I would personally recommend him for every athlete or person that wants to improve his/her potential or to any rugby club looking for a rugby coach.”
